Troubleshooting E-mail Issues

Are you trying to self-host your e-mail service?
Use an e-mail service allowing the use of SMTP port 25?

If so, because brsk makes use of CGNAT (and if you don't have BetterIP), it is very likely that you will experience issues with external providers such as Spamhaus (used on the other end) classifying your traffic as spam.

This is because you share your IP with others who may have compromised or vulnerable devices that send spam SMTP traffic out.

Please also refer to this article to explore other potential reasons for the blockage of your service.

Spamhaus

A website called Spamhaus can be used to check the status of IP addresses. Type in your IP and see what comes up: https://check.spamhaus.org/

To find out your IP address, type in “What is my IP” on your internet browser.

How to resolve this?

There are several options:

  • You can purchase BetterIP to get an IP address.

  • Try using SMTP authentication. This isn’t guaranteed, since the block can be IP-based. For more information on this, please take a look at the documentation provided to you by your e-mail provider.

  • You can use an online, web-based service for the e-mail provider you’re using (such as Outlook Online or Google Mail)

  • You can use a third-party service for your e-mailing needs.
