The Icotera router is designed to be compatible with the Icotera mesh APs (Access Points) and it is therefore, not directly compatible with third-party mesh APs. We, therefore, encourage you to purchase the BetterWiFi subscription should you require greater Wi-Fi coverage in your home.
That said, some 3rd party mesh equipment can be used without issue and if you wish to use it then you are more than welcome to do so.
If your 3rd party mesh system supports routing functionality, then you will get the best performance by removing the brsk router and plugging your mesh system straight into the fibre line box (ONT), then following the instructions for your mesh system on how to set it up.
Note: Please keep your brsk router somewhere safe, as our support team may require you to reconnect it in case you experience issues with your service.
If your mesh doesn't support routing functionality or if you aren't sure, follow these instructions:
Log into the Icotera router by following the instructions here
Click "Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n" under "Settings" in the left-hand bar
Under "Global Settings" uncheck the "Enable" box, then click "Save" at the bottom
Click "Wi-Fi 802.11ac" under "Settings" in the left-hand bar
Under "Global Settings" uncheck the "Enable" box, then click "Save" at the bottom
Once saved, click "Apply" at the bottom and wait for the settings to apply
Now connect your 3rd party mesh system to the brsk router with an ethernet cable and follow the instructions for your mesh system for any remaining configuration
Note: Ensure the ethernet cable you are using is rated Cat5e or Cat6 for best performance. Other rated cables may restrict the performance of your service
Please note that should you wish to use your own Wi-Fi equipment, brsk will be unable to provide you with Wi-Fi speed and performance-related support.
