If you are using the white Icotera router that brsk installed, please take a look at this article.

By default, all of our residential broadband customers are allocated a private IPv4 address which is translated to a public IPv4 address. This means that port forwarding isn't possible, as you won't be able to reach the private IPv4 address over the Internet. This technology is called 'Carrier Grade NAT' or CGNAT, and has become commonplace in the broadband industry due to the dwindling supply of public IPv4 addresses.

To read more about this, please take a look at this article.

Most people won’t need to worry about port forwarding, however, if you’re wanting to access a device that’s on your local network remotely then you may need to open some ports to be able to do so.

To set up port forwarding, follow the below steps.

These instructions are for the Technicolor DGA0122 provided by Brsk.

Before you begin port forwarding, you will need the following information:

  • Port number (Between 1-65535)

  • Protocol (TCP, UDP or Both)

  • IP Address of your device to port forward to

    • Note: To avoid future issues with port forwarding, we strongly suggest you set a static IP on this device. To do this, please consult the manual of your device

  • Source IP (Optional)

  1. Log into the Technicolor router by following the instructions here.

  2. Once logged into the web user interface of the router, click "WAN Services".

  3. In the new page that loads, click "+ Add new IPv4 port mapping".

  4. In the new line that appears, enter the following details:

    1. Name: Enter the name of this port. This is only used for identification.

    2. Protocol: Select either TCP, UDP, or both (TCP/UDP) depending on what your service requires.

    3. WAN port: Select the port number to forward, or select "Custom" and enter the number if not listed.

    4. LAN port: Select the port number to forward, or select "Custom" and enter the number if not listed.

    5. Source IP: Enter the IP of the device you want to access this from (optional, leave blank if you aren't sure).

    6. Destination IP: Select or enter the internal IP address of the device to forward the port to.

  5. Press the Plus (+) icon to the right to save and apply that port forward rule.

  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for any additional ports you wish to add.

  7. Press "Close" once you are happy with your changes.

DMZ

We only suggest you use a DMZ if you are confident that you know what you are doing. This is because utilising DMZ significantly heightens the risk of security issues, as DMZ exposes an entire host on your network to the internet. If you aren't entirely sure if you should be using a DMZ, then it's best not to.

To enable DMZ:

  1. From the "WAN Services" page, click settings at the top

    1. Set "Enable" to ON

    2. Select your device in "Destination IP", or select "Custom Device" from the dropdown and enter the IP address of your device

    3. Press "Save"

  2. You will now see DMZ Enabled under WAN Services
