You know what you would like to watch, but are note sure which app or channel it will be on? Use our universal search feature to search for the programme, show or movie across all of our applications and channels.

There are two ways access search feature:

1) By going to the 'Search' area, either by pressing the rewind key on your remote 3 times from the Home page (FreeviewPlay) or better yet pressing the magnifying glass key on your remote. If you are unsure where to find these keys, click here to see a full key map of your remote.

Spell out what you are looking for by highlighting letters on the virtual keyboard using the arrow keys on your remote and pressing OK. Although this will require you to manually key in what you are searching for, as you progressively type in letters, suggested search terms will also appear at the bottom for you to select. Once you navigate to a suggested search term, the screen will change to show a list of suggestions, as shown in the example below.

Simply navigate right to the desired search term and press OK on your remote to start the search.

2) If you have an Alexa device you can pair it with your set-top box and ask Alexa to either:

  • Search for 'name of programme, show or movie'

  • Find 'name of programme, show or movie'

Following the command, you will see the 'Search' area appear on your TV with the search results. Here are some useful articles on how to pair Alexa and the other command lines that are available:

Once you have finished your search process, you will see that the search results will be presented in up to 4 rows. You will typically have the following:

  • On Demand Programmes (FreeviewPlay) - programmes you can catchup on using the FreeviewPlay applications. These would have typically been shown on one of the live Freeview channels in the past.

  • On Demand Programmes (Extra) - programmes you can catchup on using other applications.

  • Live Programmes - episodes that are ongoing and playing on the specified channel.

  • Coming Soon Programmes - episodes that will be available in the upcoming days. You can select a future episode to set a reminder. The reminder pop-up notification will then appear 3 minutes before its scheduled to go live.
