Fix Common BetterWiFi Issues

Get your BetterWiFi working perfectly again

Updated over 3 weeks ago

WiFi acting up? Work through these steps in order - most issues are resolved quickly with these simple checks.

Quick Diagnostic: Check the Basics First

1. Is your mesh node powered on?

  • Check the power switch on the back is pressed in

  • Confirm the power cable is securely connected

  • Make sure the wall socket is working

  • Look for any lights on your mesh node

2. Check for obvious changes Ask yourself: "What's different since my WiFi was working well?"

  • Has your router or mesh node been moved?

  • Are there new objects blocking the signal (metal furniture, electronics)?

  • Have you added new devices to your network?

If you've identified changes, try reverting them before continuing.

Check Signal Strength

For Technicolor systems (black router with white mesh): Check the light on top of your mesh node:

  • Green: Excellent signal, no action needed

  • Orange: Acceptable signal, move closer to router if possible

  • Red: Poor signal, definitely move mesh AP closer to router

For Icotera systems (white router and mesh): Double-press the WiFi button on your mesh node side:

  • Green: Excellent signal

  • Blue: The signal is too strong and it can be moved further away from the router.

  • Yellow: The signal is low but should be stable. Move it closer to your router if you need faster speeds.

  • Purple: Poor signal, move the mesh closer to your router

For Brsk Boosters (WiFi 7 system): Check dashboard at http://192.168.1.1:

  1. Go to WiFi Mesh > Overview

  2. Check signal quality indicators:

    • Green (80-100%): Excellent

    • Blue (60-79%): Good

    • Yellow (40-59%): Fair - move closer if possible

    • Red (Below 40%): Poor - relocate immediately
